Coz it gives warning..

A conversation took place not too far and not too long ago.

X has gone through the firewall rules and he become puzzled on some of them.  Desperately need clarification, he consulted Y, the firewall administrator.

X: Why do you need this particular rule that allow these IP addresses access to the Firewall itself?
Y: Ohhh.. that's one of the standard rules by the manufacturer for maintenance purpose.
X: Do you really need this rule that allow maintenance from a few segments?
Y: I can't remove or edit that. Every time I tried, it gave warning message.
X: Huh? What was the message?
Y: "Do you want to proceed?"

At that juncture, X was not sure to either laugh, educate or keep everything to himself.

The Contender?

Seriously, I don't know how should I put this.  Coming up with a title for this post already a fuss.

I came across this on my way back home yesterday.  I didn't notice it the day earlier so guess it was just put up by someone or some authority within the compound of the temple.

Facebook and privacy setting on photos

Just when you thought you have set the privacy right, but it didn't.

While going through a friend's photo tagged by his friend, I clicked to someone's profile that we do not have a mutual friend.

Harian Metro - Jaja Kismis

Pelajar...

Pengarah Kebajikan Masyarakat Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur..

Kisah Mak Su Si Ibu Tunggal

(An-Nisa ': 58)

dan hayatilah kisah Saidina Omar R.A ini: -

Tangisan anak-anak itu semakin nyaring. Penat menjerit, mereka hanya mampu menangis tersedu-sedu.

“Aku ingin sekali tahu kalau-kalau keluargamu sedang menghadapi masalah.

Welcome aboard newbies! See you soon Munir..

Cannondale F5 2009. Source: Cannondale.com

Welcoming..
Wife's cousin, Azlan bought Cannondale F5 this morning after registering his interest with me few weeks back and I took him for a ride at Bukit Kiara (not a good choice to influent potential MTB'r to mountain biking) last Saturday. Welcome aboard bro!

In 2007, I influenced my brother, Azmi into cycling. He started of with decent setup Proton T-Blaze before settled for better specs Scott Scale 70 '08. Though I tried harassing my other 2 brothers to follow suite, it was a failure :)

A week ago, schoolmate Sher took up cycling after many years abandoning it. I wasn't very sure her ultimate objective but she said she will join me on trail once she's ready. On! on!

Leaving..
After many attempts to fit riding schedule between job, family & some other commitments that has higher priority; Munir gave up cycling last night by selling his Scott Scale 40. Hope to see you back on saddle bro.

Kayuhan Anggerik

Last Friday, I went for Kayuhan Anggerik at Shah Alam. So much so of promoting healthy lifestyle, we have the first (and on monthly basis) Putrajaya Critical Mass which runs on every last Friday of the month. And now Kayuhan Anggerik which will be on every 3rd Friday of the month.

I didn't get the whole objective of the ride precisely. I was imagining the ride should be santai (relax) that I even wore jeans. Was on rear pack, chatting and socializing with Azizan the Fixie and Shaque when I start noticing other cyclists zooming left and right chasing the front pack. Thought that the organizer has changed the format to race event, I changed to my mode too. While I was overtaking some other cyclists, those on knobbie still a lot faster than me. And Shaque, despite knobbie tyre, was constantly tailgating me. Damn! I am still have a lot to improve.

On overall, it was an enjoyable ride. I will attend their next event as a sign of support.

Daughter's first dish

My eldest is 10. For an arrangement that we had earlier on, she fried me an egg. Big deal? Of course! Previously she just successfully boils water ;)

She kinna late starter according to my wife. Well if you don't put a person into a situation, how would you know his/her capability.

I didn't realize to fry an egg do has an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) until I have to tell her the step by step (my client's nicest word to substitute the word SOP).

Standard Operating Procedure for frying an egg
1. Wash the pan
2. Fire up the stove (set to low)
3. Put the pan on the stove
4. Wait until the pan dry up
5. Put a sprinkle of cooking oil
6. Wait until pan heats up (this is the tricky part on determining the "recommended" heat)
7. While waiting for "6", crack open the egg's shell and put it in a small bowl
8. Put the egg onto the pan
9. Flip it after a while
10. Serve

The result!

Who said cooking is simple?

The Bastard Operator From Hell

Excuse me for the vulgar word but this is the actual title of this site.

Few years back (this is just another way of me subtly telling you that it's like 10 years back) I was a System Administrator (or SysAdmin, click there for explanation, I love Wiki!), full time. A few years back (in actual context where the rest of the world defines it as like 3-4 years back), I was assigned to client's office to run the IT operations there. Sparingly I attended issues like I send a file for printing but nothing come up (the printer was out of paper), network down! (while fact that the cable also unplugged), I can't login! (tried many wrong password and the account get blocked), and the list went on and on.

Coming back to title, this SysAdmin taking it personally and write a journal on this. I am trying to believe that the journal is purely fiction but it is hilarious to read (trust me, SysAdmin is a nice person on earth that always there to fix your issue with PC). Of course I don't expect non-IT person or ordinary computer luser (gosh! Wiki explains that too? ;) ) to get the jokes. I simply call it a tribute to all System Administrators for a large dosage of laugh that they need while attending anything-under-the-sky luser's issues.

Raya long holiday

Last day of Ramadhan
After a few days break since last ride, I made a loop via Degong, Chenderung Balai, and Chikus. Under 30km mild pedaling on flat terrain. By the time I reached kampung, I had half an hour to clean up myself and getting ready for breaking fast.

It's Raya!
Personally, I have nothing much to look forward for Raya. The enjoyment seems has faded for quite sometime. Probably being a person sitting on the other side of that monetary transaction on pre-Raya, Raya and post-Raya is not funny at all.

On Raya day, after Solat, we had our lemang and rendang dishes. Later asked forgiveness among family member and then we paid a visit to distance family member on the other side of the kampung.

And what is Raya without firecracker

Ride to Teluk Intan

The lean tower of Teluk Intan

It’s 2nd day of Raya and it was about time to hit the road. Especially after stuffing my tummy with countless lemang, ketupat and rending on 1st Raya. At about 7:40am, I left Langkap and heading towards Teluk Intan, about 20km via kampong’s single lane route. Several times, I gave way for cars passing thru. About an hour ride I reached Teluk Intan.

I stopped by the Lean Tower catching my breath. It wasn’t that long when an uncle on his bicycle checked out my Scott and start counting my 9-speed cogs. Our conversation revolved around bicycle and he was sharing his plan to do touring with multi-gear bicycle (on which he planned to buy). My guesstimate, he’s circa 60 years old and still going strong for a guy at his age.

Apart from me, he was the other cyclist wearing helmet I encountered for the day

Marking 08.08.08 with a long bike ride

An article from The Star Metro by Sarina Khalid

A group of friends from Taman Melawati aims to make the date 08-08-08 extra special for themselves by starting on a cycling expedition to the East Coast today.

To add to the significance of their endeavour is the fact that most of them are more than 50 years old.

Sense of togetherness: Dr Hamdan (in red) and the rest of the group enjoying themselves during their regular training before the expedition recently.

They are group leader Wan Ahmad Sabri Wan Daud, his wife Wan Mariam Wan Mahmud, Kamat Norit and his wife Faridah Akmar Ibrahim, Dr Hamdan Salleh and Aliyah Mohd Salleh.

The youngest members of the group are Mohd Shuhaimi Ismail and Dr Maryam Chin, both 39.

Calling themselves Gedebe, which means strong in the Kelantanese dialect, the group will start off today on their five-day, four-night expedition to Kota Baru, Kelantan.

“We will leave Taman Melawati, Hulu Klang on Aug 8 and arrive in Kota Baru on Aug 11 and will be back in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 12.

“We will cover a total of 470km from Taman Melawati to Kota Baru,” said Wan Ahmad Sabri.

He said they would be taking the old trunk road from Taman Melawati to Sungai Pasu in Pahang via Bentong and Raub.

“The next day we will move to Kuala Lipis from Sungai Pasu and will stay overnight in Dabong. On the third day we will travel to Jeli until Tanah Merah and Wakaf Baru before crossing over to Kota Baru on the last day,” he said.

They will spend the last night of the expedition in Pengkalan Chepa before flying back.

Previously the group organised several expeditions, including a cycling trip to Port Dickson via the old road, from Bangi to Bagan Lalang, to Sungai Tekala, Janda Baik and Bentong.

To prepare for the trip, the group has been cycling from Taman Melawati to Putrajaya daily, a distance of about 50km.

“We ride on weekdays for safety reasons. There are usually more cars on the road on weekends and not safe for us,” he said.

Wan Ahmad Sabri said the trip was not a race but a feat against themselves. “We set the target and we have nothing to compete against except ourselves.

“It does not matter how long we take to get to our destination as long as we get there,” he said.

Group members have also been going for regular medical check-ups to ensure that they are fit for the trip. They have also made sure that their bicycles are in good condition for the long distance ride.

“We are travelling light so we are only taking the basic necessities like a few pairs of clothes, bike spare parts, sleeping bags and some first aid equipment for the trip,” said Wan Ahmad Sabri.

Most of the group members have taken up cycling as a form of exercise.

Kamat, who is 58 years old and the oldest member of the group, said he only started cycling seriously earlier this year. He has high blood pressure which he believes was brought on by his former job which was very stressful.

His wife, Faridah, has developed serious varicose veins on her legs.

Both had decided to take part in outdoor activities in the hope of improving their health conditions.

“We started with hiking and camping as they sounded fun and then tried cycling. Then we met this group of people and the rest is history,” said Kamat.

Kamat and his 53-year-old wife do not think that their age hampers them from joining the activities.

“We know what our body can do and the rest is proper training,” he said.

He said he was glad that he could join the group as it helped him meet new people.

Come to know Pak Kamat and wife (Kak Faridah) after few months of my cycling life. They are better known as the Romeo & Juliet of Taman Melawati, regularly visit Sofea Jane (google keyword: "sofea jane" kemensah) and some other trail in Kemensah. Do not underestimate them as they can make some young cyclists blush with their climbing skill (in cycling, climbing means pedal up hilly section)! Some of us had a taste of Kak Faridah's homemade power bar, delicious!

Myths about cycling

Shark & Mukhlis at 501 Trail in FRIM, Kepong

The following are my findings on the myths about cycling through my observation over almost a year took up this hobby.. err I mean obsession..

1. Take up cycling to get slim
It does not work all the time. If you are anything above 1 tan, do loss some weight first before take up cycling. Look into your diet, it helps you to reduce fat.

Try diet program that suit you or better still consult your doctor

2. Bicycle is one time investment

You start with el-cheapo bicycle because you would not know whether you will stick to this hobby, good choice! Your next bicycle would be somewhere in the region of RM2,000 to RM3,000. Then you will get self-inflicted upgrade disease, due to part worn over time (yes they do!) or you think that the other cyclist is faster because he is using XTR groupset.

LBS (Local Bike Shop) is a very contagious place for cycloholic

3. It is just a hobby
A hobby is something that you do over the weekend, when or if you feel like doing it. Cycling (at least to me) on the other hand is like obsession. You will find time, squeeze appoinment, plan leave, construct reasoning (to wife) and reschedule other people wedding in order to participate in big event.

Attire. In some other part of the world, cycling does not mean must wear those body hugging lycra suit

4. "Dear, it just a half day ride, I am all yours by lunch."

While there is a slim chance that your return is about lunch time (if you do, merely to reload your carbo), the next thing after meal, you are pretty much wasted.
Note for the spouse: take this as an advantages, ask for anything, he will agree with less hesitation.

Just like any other exercise, feeling exhausted is just normal sign that we cyclist push it hard

5. Too much cycling make you impotent

On contrary, it increase libido. In my dictionary, exercise is either cycling or ride the wife.

There are many personal comment from friends to certify the contrary
